Overview

A web-based trade blotter for a Miami-based broker-dealer that was running their trading desk operations on a combination of Excel workbooks and email. The system needed to support 20+ concurrent traders with sub-second position refresh, audit-quality records, and end-of-day P&L export.

What We Built

• Trade entry form with real-time validation against instrument master
• Live position aggregation using server-sent events
• Role-based workflow: trader → desk head → compliance sign-off
• End-of-day report generation (PDF + CSV) delivered to operations team
• Full audit log with actor, timestamp, and field-level diff capture

Stack

PHP 8.2, PostgreSQL 15, Redis, AWS EC2, S3. Deployed behind Cloudflare.

Outcome

Reduced end-of-day reconciliation time from 3.5 hours to under 25 minutes. Zero P&L discrepancies in first six months of production.
